Type Approval for Trucks
Unlike the car type approval scheme, approval for trucks within Europe is currently focused around National type approval schemes. Other member states within the EC operate on a similar basis however approval for registration in the UK does not automatically allow for registration in other member states. However, a recent amendment to the type approval framework directive (70/156/ECC) will change this. Directive 2007/46/EC introduces the basis of a European wide scheme of approval for trucks and this new legislation will be phased in over coming years.
