Alex Kubinski, VP Vehicle Approval Services

Alex Kubinski graduated from Leicester Polytechnic (now DeMontford University) in 1988 receiving a BEng (Hons) in Engineering Technology.

Alex joined the Department for Transport onto its Monitored Professional Development Scheme sponsored by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). For his first year he was stationed at the Transport and Road Research Laboratory where he completed a number of research projects, one of which was presented at the ESV Conference in Sweden in 1989. From there he was rotated through various divisions of the Department of Transport including the Vehicle Standards & Engineering (VSE) division in London, the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) in Bristol and Nuneaton, and the Vehicle Inspectorate (VI) in Exeter and Swansea.

Alex came to VCA in 1991, firstly on Career Development then later transferred to be a direct employee. His Type Approval assignments included working in many countries throughout Europe, Japan and the USA. In May of 1993 he became a Member of the IMechE after fulfilling all the necessary requirements and was registered as a Chartered Engineer.

Alex was transferred to the VCA North American office in July 1993. In 1995 he was promoted to Manager of Homologation - North America. Since then he has overseen the rapid growth of the Type Approval business in North America.
