VCA Partnership With NWML - Cross Atlantic Gateway To Europe

The Vehicle Certification Agency North America (VCA) and the UK's National Weights & Measures Laboratory (NMWL) are working together to offer NWML services to manufacturers of weighing and measuring instruments in the United States. These services include product certification, quality management system certification and pre-assessment services.

NWML, based in London, UK, has developed a reputation for providing customer focussed, efficient and value for money services. The joint agreement between VCA and NWML will provide a gateway to Europe for US manufacturers of weighing and measuring instruments used in legal metrological applications. NWML can advise on what the European Directives on Non-automatic Weighing Instruments (90/384/EEC) and Measuring Instruments (2004/22/EC) mean for businesses and can assist in achieving Europe-wide certification for their products.

NWML develops a partnership approach with their customers and provides a friendly, flexible service. Their aim is to support manufacturers through the approval process. A pre-assessment service can be offered to advise businesses of the requirements that need to be satisfied to obtain certification.

NWML holds the OIML secretariat for automatic weighing instruments, and represents the UK at various WELMEC Working Groups. This means that NWML engineers are fully informed of, and involved in developing, the requirements relating to certification.
